|Character Sheet||[Character Sheet]|
A Psion that isn't quite crazy, Growth is a member of the Order of the Benign, an organization dedicated to helping people realize their potential and advancing metahuman welfare in the Sixth world.
He is the son of Ashurbanipal the Black.
True Strength Comes From Within: Though Growth acknowledges (and frequently employs) external resources, he believes that true strength comes from a person's character and will; after all, 'ware, weapons and equipment can be bought on the open market -- but what cannot be purchased, and must instead be cultivated, are bravery, tenacity, judgement and wisdom. In the end, he believes, these things will decide the course of events.
A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste: Growth hates wasted potential. He has dedicated his life to fighting oppressors who would keep people from achieving their potential.
I Can Only Show You the Door: Sometimes, of course, the oppressor is oneself. Growth understands that there is a limit to how much he can help; by the same extension he admires those who help themselves, and has contempt for those responsible for their own fate.
The Gnomish God of Heavy Artillery: Growth likes big guns.
Actually Cancer: Growth's working name was "Cancer" when I was making him. He's an FLR Mysad who uses quickening and eventually an ally spirit and 8 edge. Various things about him (Benign Order, Growth, his SIN name) reference this.
Dawid Binyamin was originally a subject in the Advanced Genetic Experimental Soldier program (AGES) program in Damasucs. He was one of many offspring of the previous program's surviving Prototype Transhumans, specifically Ashurbanipal the Black, who ironically ended up as one of the researchers working on the program, unknowingly studying the data collected from subjects that included his own son. The program itself was mild, as such things go; the previous governments' supersoldiers hadn't managed to keep it in power, and the new regime took the view that the transhumans were likely better suited to be researchers than warriors. This was ironic in Growth's case, because he was much more interested in violence than research.
Initially motivated by adventure, he left the program after a period of hermetic research, which he was never especially comfortable with; though magically capable spellcasting never really sat well with him. For a long period he worked as a mercenary, aimless and adrift, until he met a woman who called herself Courage. Courage had taken her new name when she'd joined The Order of the Benign, an organization primarily made up of Psions who recognized that all people, great and small, had power within them. For some -- like them -- the power was direct: thought which manifested into will, reshaping the world. Looking at his sorcery in this way was like opening his eyes for the first time, and awakened both to himself and his newfound purpose, Growth (as he decided to rename himself), threw himself into trying to understand magic from the Order's psionic perspective.
