Runners meet the Laplander Johnson at the Narvik Refuge, a small bar in Narvik, to learn the details of the job. They are sent to the toxic barrier region of Southern Lapland and are meet with the shamans they are to escort into the dead zone so they may try and repair the damage done to the area As they march along, V646B0ND picks up several active commlinks and they are soon beset upon by well-armed scavengers and their rad-dogs. As Growth suppresses the majority of their forces, a brief battle follows and the runners interrogate one of their attackers. After learning some more information about their destination, they also issue instructions to have the other scavengers stay away, because next tie they will be using lethal rounds. They continue on, navigating around a large group of spirits thanks to Actaeon's good communication skills. Soon after, the group arrives at a toxic lake with an abandoned Ares compound in the center. Toxic paracritters start to circle the group as the shamans begin their ritual and eventually awake a large spirit of sludge named Inara. The spirit does a little damage before a few well-placed bullets take it out and the paracritters either die or scatter under the hail of gunfire. The shamans complete the ritual and the background count in the area drops, raising the spirits of the group. A job well done, they group is thanked by the Johnson (Helga) and the rest of the Sami-Laplanders for giving them some much needed support.
