The runners meet with the Johnson in a moderately nice downtown bar to discuss an extraction job of an individual headed to a maximum security prison in Australia owned by Saeder-Krupp. He says the woman could be considered dangerous, and holds that the person will prefer to be in his care than in prison. The runners agree and head Down Under via Jazz's VTOL. Once there, they do some legwork and determine that the target is being held in a holding facility outside Canberra while waiting for transport. Seeing the heavily armored transports, the team decides to break in and free the target at this location. They find a mid-level guy who has access to this area and knock him out so they can go in.

Posing as a team of technicians, Leaf is able to cause a power surge that damages a few systems and they gain access to the facility. Mirai is able to take control of the system inside while Jazz and Leaf go to the basement holding center. Fighting ensues immediately and Leaf and Jazz are able to knockout the security guards. They decide to free 2 other prisoners as well, but when they get to their target, they discover something off about her. Shortly after she is released from her cryonic and biofiber enclosure, there is some odd spirit related activity. Further investigation by the team mage and her ally spirit find that the target is a strong astral beacon for some of the nastier spirits. They team makes their way out of the base as it descends into chaos, with Leaf being informed by a local dragon that they had best leave quickly. Jazz and Mirai get the word out to the others left in the facility to get out quickly and manage to flee before the dragon levels the place.

Not pleased with the Johnson, the team debates the fate of the catatonic target, who they know know is Kaitaq Running Elk (See The Polar Assassination story arc). Should they kill her, or find a way to fix her? Jazz hits up some of his contacts and finds a bishop willing to take the woman to the Vatican for further study. Paid a bit for their troubles, the team feels good about their choices and no possible repercussions could arise from them. A job well done.
